Investigators searching for more victims after man arrested on abuse charges

A 48-year-old man is facing charges including rape and sexual abuse of a child in the wake of a in-depth investigation.

Scottie Taylor was arrested May 4 by the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit’s Sexual Assault Section after an investigation regarding Taylor.

He’s been charged with:

• 2 counts of first-degree rape
• 1 count of sexual abuse of a child younger than 12
• 1 count of first-degree sexual abuse

Taylor was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond in accordance with Aniah’s Law.

To protect the privacy of the victim, VCU is not releasing any other details at this time, but they’re encouraging anyone who may have been a victim or knows of any possible abuse by Taylor to contact VCU at 205-464-8690.

The investigation is ongoing and other charges may be possible in the future.
