Investigators: Husband kills wife, then self Sunday in Tuscaloosa

A husband and wife are dead after what police say was a murder-suicide early Sunday.

Around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Tuscaloosa Police responded to what was reported as a domestic disturbance at Winding Creek Apartments on Old Greensboro Road.

Several witnesses reported they’d seen and heard a man and woman in some type of domestic altercation inside and outside their apartment.

When officers arrived, they found both dead from gunshot wounds inside the apartment.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit assumed the investigation, and evidence combined with witness statements suggests the husband shot and killed his wife before killing himself.

Although there are no outstanding suspects at this time, VCU investigators will adhere to the same standards as every other violent crimes case.

The victim has been identified as Bernice Etienne Walker, 24, and her husband and shooter was identified as Devin Levon Walker, also 24.
