I-20/59 OVERPASS WORK WILL CLOSE SECTION OF MCFARLAND BOUELVARD THIS WEEKEND
The Alabama Department of Transportation is taking advantage of light traffic while they continue updating Interstate 20/59.
This weekend, McFarland Boulevard under the I-20/59 bridge is closing in both directions so contractors can install girders for the new bridge overpass.
Closures begin Friday, April 24 at 8 p.m. and last through Monday, April 27 at 5 a.m.
Law enforcement will be present and assisting with traffic.
The work is part of the project adding lanes and replacing the bridge over McFarland Boulevard, and encompasses I-20/59 between Exit 73 and 77. Completion is scheduled for December.
Drivers should expect delays, and are encouraged to use Skyland Boulevard, Interstate 359 or other alternate routes.
