It’s been a decade since Hurricane Katrina. Hank and Teri Henley were among the thousands affected by the disaster. Today they live in Helena, but say New Orleans will always hold a special place in their hearts. When they evacuated, the couple only had a few possessions and the clothes on their backs.
Before Katrina, the Henley’s never considered relocating until doors started opening for them to move to the Birmingham area.
First, Hank’s company had a job open up, then Teri found a position teaching at the University of Alabama.
As they moved away from their home of 15 years, the Henley’s tell WVUA 23 they almost felt guilty because so many of their friends did stay and rebuild, but today they know Hurricane Katrina brought them home to Alabama.
