HUNTSVILLE TEACHER WILL NOT BE DISCIPLINED FOR BLACK FACE COSTUME

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) – Decatur City Schools will not discipline an elementary teacher who dressed in black face as part of a Halloween costume.

Chestnut Grove Elementary teacher Heath Morrow, in a written statement released Tuesday, said he did not have malicious intent with the costume and called it an error in judgment.

Morrow, who is white, painted his skin to dress as rapper and music producer Kanye West. Morrow’s wife was dressed as West’s wife, Kim Kardashian. The incident happened away from school.

The school system received complaints after photos of the couple circulated on social media. In the photo, Morrow held a sign reading “Kanye for Prez 2020.”

Decatur Superintendent Ed Nichols says he wants to educate school system employees about being more sensitive.
