Human Trafficking: How to Recognize the Signs

According to the organization, “Blanket Fort Hope,” human trafficking is a quickly becoming the fastest growing crime in America. Conservative estimates show more than a hundred thousand children are victimized each year.  That’s why officials in Bibb County are seeking professional training, and learning to recognize the signs of trafficking.  Experts also say, it’s important to avoid stereotypes.  Trafficking has no boundaries when it comes to gender and race.  In fact, research shows an increasingly large number of pre-teen boys are being targeted.

Victims are often coerced into silence.  However, it is possible to recognize the red flags associated with trafficking.  Common signs include:  1.)  Hyper Sexuality in Pre-Teens;  2.)  Crude Tattoos Featuring Name or Icon; 3.)  Not Being Paid for a Job.

Alabama now has a Human Trafficking Task Force, designed to combat trafficking.  However, sex crimes often go unreported.  Do you think you have encountered a victim?  Officials urge you to call your local law enforcement agency.
