HUBBARD SENTENCING IS FRIDAY

Former Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard’s fate awaits him Friday morning in Lee County.

Hubbard was removed from office last month after he was convicted of 12 felony ethics charges. His sentencing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday.

Prosecutors said Hubbard should spent five years in a state prison for breaking Alabama’s ethics laws. The Attorney General’s office asked a judge to give Hubbard an 18-year split sentence. Under the Attorney General’s proposed sentence, Hubbard would spend five years behind bars and the remaining 13 years under supervised probation.
