HOMECOMING PARADE TO FEATURE MORE ORGANIZATIONS, FAMILIAR FACES

Story by WVUA 23’s Julia Smith.

The directors of the University of Alabama’s homecoming parade are changing up this year’s procession while keeping the main traditions that everyone loves.

This year’s parade lineup will consist of more on-campus organizations as well as many familiar faces.

“Our theme this year is return of the legends so its kind of the nostalgic feel of homecoming and coming back to campus,” said Katie Retzbach, the director of the parade.

Retzbach said to expect to see Crimsonettes, cheerleaders, Big Al and many more fan favorites parading downtown and through campus.

This year’s Grand Marshall is former Alabama football player, Rashad Johnson, who also played in the NFL.

The parade will start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. It will start on Greensboro Avenue and continue through campus on University Boulevard.
