HOME INVASION TURNS FATAL
A home invasion turned fatal at the Links Apartment complex when intruders were met by the tenant and his gun. 24-year-old Courtney Campbell was shot and killed. Campbell and 25-year-old Marcus McCall jumped from the apartment’s balcony.
Campbell collapsed and died on the scene while McCall drove away in a white Chevy Tahoe despite multiple broken bones.
Police located McCall shortly after.
He was taken to DCH and treated for his injuries then released into police custody being charged with Burglary One and Felony Murder.
Authorities believe the tenant was an intended target.
Captain Gary Hood with Tuscalooa Metro Homicide says the tenant shot at the suspects from within his home as they were breaking in.
The case is therefore being handled at this time as self defense.
McCall has been booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $80,000 bond.
Investigators tell us both suspects are from Thomasville but Campbell has criminal involvements here in Tuscaloosa County.
No motive or relationship between the tenant and suspects has been pinpointed..
