Here’s COVID-19 numbers from around Tuscaloosa
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, there are now 736,518 total cases of COVID in the state of Alabama. Although 1.8 million people in the state are now fully vaccinated, this virus has taken the life of 12,552 Alabamians.
Taking a look at the number of COVID-19 cases in Tuscaloosa City Schools, out of 10,843 students and 1,439 employees, 180 students and 11 employees are currently quarantined or isolated. Additionally, 178 students have active cases. The Tuscaloosa City Schools system has a mask mandate that the school board voted to extend through Oct. 6.
DCH Health System reported Thursday that there are 147 inpatients within the system currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these inpatients, 39 are being treated in the ICU.
There are 19,302 active students in the Tuscaloosa County Schools System. In the last system update on Aug. 31, there were 424 positive cases of COVID-19 among students and 48 positive cases of COVID among faculty and staff. The Tuscaloosa County School System does not have a mask mandate.
