Health Matters, Oct. 1, 2020: What to do When Your Doctor Retires

Health Matters

If you’re like many people, you’ve had the same doctor for years.

But what do you do when that doctor you’ve formed a meaningful bond with announces their retirement?

University Medical Center Family Medicine Physician Dr. Jane Weida said finding a new doctor can be tough, but usually you won’t have to look far.

“We especially hear it (at UMC) for residents because those doctors are only there for three years,” Weida said. “Then they have to turn the care of someone over to another doctor.”

It may take several tries before you find a doctor you like, Weida said, but don’t stress about taking time to find the right one.
