People are carrying a good bit of stress with them these days, and that can cause real health concerns.

University Medical Center Director of Case Management and Social Services Dr. Bob McKinney offered some tips for coping with all the stressful news coming in each and every day.

“One thing that I would encourage people to do is actively seek out sources for good news, not just whatever somebody is feeding you,” McKinney said. “But in addition to that, a lot of national news in the United States is very divisive. Distance gives perspective, so I would encourage people to at least explore international news sources.”

McKinney said he recommends sources like Canada Broadcasting Corporation or the BBC.

“They give insight about what’s happening in the United States, but also what’s going on out in the world,” McKinney said.
