Hank Poore Foundation Hosts Fundraiser
The Hank Poore Foundation hosted a kick-off fundraiser at Urban Cookhouse Wednesday evening as a way to bring awareness to the foundation.
Patrons could buy merchandise and make donations to the nonprofit organization.
Urban Cookhouse also donated a portion of its proceeds to the foundation.
Hank Poore is a local 20-year-old with cerebral palsy who’s worked at Urban Cookhouse for three years.
His foundation provides opportunities and experiences for people with disabilities.
“We were just kind of looking for a way to give back to the community, and the idea of this foundation was born. We hope to raise funds to help other people with disabilities have some of the same experiences Hank’s had,” said Kathy Poore, Hank Poore’s mother.
Kathy Poore said she appreciates the community’s continued support for the organization.
“The community has always been super supportive of hank and our family, so it’s not unexpected. But it’s thrilling to see people come out and love him and love us and then want to turn around and make our community a better place for people with disabilities,” Kathy Poore said.
