HANCOCK FABRIC STORES GOING OUT OF BUSINESS

By WVUA 23 Web Writer Pauline Fitzgerald

Hancock Fabrics is closing all of its 185 remaining stores, including one in Tuscaloosa, after filing for bankruptcy in February.

Hancock Fabrics is located on Veterans Memorial Parkway, just past Target.

The fabric and craft retailer launched a going out of business sale, on Monday.

Eight other Hancock stores are in Alabama, including: Huntsville, Cullman, Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile.

Deals will last several weeks until all merchandise is sold. Merchandise such as: furniture, trade fixtures and equipment will be sold.

Last Thursday, Great American Group of California’s bid for the rest of Hancock’s stores received approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Delaware. The company was already liquidating another 70 stores identified as under preforming during Hancock’s Chapter 11 filing in February.
