Hale County facing more severe weather as recovery continues

Hale County crews have been preparing for severe weather expected on Thursday, Feb. 16.
This preparation included the Hale County Emergency Management Agency meeting with first responders and elected officials on Wednesday.
Hale County EMA Director Russell Weeden said they hope to coordinate emergency response services in preparation for the storms. But Weeden said residents should make plans to get to a shelter before the storm hits.
“Our Newbern shelter and our Greensboro Baptist Church shelter will both open up all day tomorrow, and they will be open as long as we need them to be open,” Weeden said. “We’ve already touched base with all those personnel to make sure all of that’s ready to go.”
Along with the EMA’s preparations, Weeden said he advises residents to practice weather awareness all day, especially as severe weather begins rolling in around noon.
