GOV. IVEY MOVES UP ELECTION FOR U.S. SENATE SEAT

Kay Ivey

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed a proclamation this morning to move the special election date for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by U.S. Attorney Jeff Sessions. The primary will be held Aug. 15, with any potential runoff taking place Sept. 26. The general election will be Dec. 12.

“I promised to steady our ship of state,” Ivey said in a release this morning. “This means following the law, which clearly states the people should vote for a replacement U.S. Senator as soon as possible. The new U.S. Senate special election dates this year are a victory for the rule of law.”
