GOT OLD DRUGS? SAFELY DROP OFF UNUSED PRESCRIPTIONS IN BOXES AROUND TOWN

The West Alabama Narcotics Task Force (WANT) is trying to make it easier for residents to get rid of old prescriptions medications.

Agents set up drop-off boxes around the city for residents to take old pills and drop them off in a safe way. Participants don’t have to bring the original pill bottle but should not return loose pills. Also, WANT agents implore participants to not put medical supplies, equipment, syringes, glass containers or liquids in the boxes.

Drop-off boxes are located at the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s headquarters, as well as the east and west precincts. Northport Police Department’s headquarters and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office also has boxes installed.

A box will be installed at the University of Alabama Police Department within the next few weeks.
