Gordo woman charged with attempted stimulus check fraud
A Gordo woman is facing charges after investigators with the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office accused her of attempting a federal stimulus check scam.
Investigators said Charlie Antaira Craig, 37, is alleged to have cashed her Economic Impact Payment, also known as a COVID-19 stimulus check, then filed a claim that it had been stolen to receive a replacement.
Craig is charged with first-degree theft.
District Attorney Andy Hamlin said he encourages anyone with information about this case or any others involving stimulus funds fraud to contact Investigator Jordan Powell at 205-367-9915.
