Tuscaloosa’s newest thrift store is hosting a hiring event Dec. 21 and Dec. 23 in preparation for its grand opening in February.

Goodwill is opening its first store in Tuscaloosa at 1140 Veterans Memorial Parkway, and they’re looking to hire part-timers starting at $15 an hour.

While Goodwill is looking for many more new employees, their main goal is sharing their mission, said Alabama Goodwill Marketing and Fund Development Director Katie Hannah.

“Our mission is around empowering, educating and employing Alabamians who may have barriers to employment,” Hannah said. “Whatever that may look like for someone, we really see a big importance in making sure that those jobs are available and we are excited to be doing that in the Tuscaloosa community.”

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, and Hannah said no experience is required. Jobs begin Jan. 3.
