GET RID OF LIVE HOLIDAY DECOR WITH CITY’S CHRISTMAS RECYCLING PROGRAM

Christmas 2937873 1920

With the end of the holidays comes a pretty sizable cleanup for many households, and the city of Tuscaloosa wants to help in a sustainable way.

The city is accepting live Christmas trees and decor between Thursday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Jan. 10 for recycling. It is free to drop off a tree, wreath or garland at the environmental services facility at 3340 Kauloosa Ave.

The program, which as been around for 14 years, has been able to recycle over 1,300 trees after the holidays. They are mostly deconstructed for community projects so they can be used as mulch.

For those who wish to participate, please come prepared. All trees, wreaths and garland must be stripped of lights and decorations before they can be dropped off.

For more information, visit www.tuscaloosa.com/recycle or call Tuscaloosa 311 at (205) 248-5311.
