Get Prepared for Severe Weather

Severe weather is on the way throughout the state today through tonight, so it’s important you stay weather aware and be prepared for emergencies.

Some tips include:

• Make sure you have more than one way to get weather alerts, such as a working weather radio, in addition to your TV, internet or cellphone.
• Keep electronic devices fully charged.
• Stay dressed and wear hard-soled shoes like boots.
• Stock up on water and nonperishable foods in case of power loss.
• Have a family plan: Designate a safe place in your home with no windows that you can go to during a tornado warning. Keep supplies there like helmets and flashlights.
• Bring your pets inside.
• If your home is not safe, know the location of your nearest storm shelter.
