Former NFL player dies in Pickens County authorities’ custody

Pickens County Jail

Special agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau are investigating after a former NFL player died in police custody in Pickens County.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office requested the investigation Monday after the death of 31-year-old Glenn Foster of Louisiana, who played with the New Orleans Saints in 2013.

Foster was arrested Saturday and charged with reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and attempting to elude police.

Foster’s body was released to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for investigation, which, once complete, will be turned over to the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney’s Office.
