FORMER ALABAMA POLICE OFFICER CONVICTED OF CHILD ENTICEMENT

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Jurors have convicted a one-time Alabama police officer of trying to entice a teenage girl into having sex.

Court documents show 23-year-old Stevie Rodgers was convicted Thursday.

He worked for the Montgomery Police Department for about three years until his arrest in October 2018.

A statement from the district attorney’s office said Rodgers was in uniform answering a disturbance call when he ordered a 15-year-old girl into a empty house and propositioned her for sex.

Prosecutors say Rodgers claimed that he was only mentoring the girl and tried to talk to her in a way she would understand.
