Former Alabama football players host free camp for children
Central High School head football coach Demario Pippen and former Alabama Crimson standout and retired NFL player Le’Ron McClain are giving back to the community that gave them their starts. The two have planned to host a free two day football camp this week.
The duo hosted Camp of Champions July 7 and 8, offering campers a look at fundamentals and position training on the Falcon’s football field.
“It was something we both just wanted to do,” Pippen said. “Come together and collaborate. He used his resources. I used my resources and brought it together so we can develop this community when it comes to the game of football.”
Students ages 7-17 were welcome at the camp, which was powered by Central High School’s football coaching staff and volunteers.
“The main thing I want them to take away is structure,” Pippen said. “I like to teach structure when it comes to my program, when it comes to my athletes, any people that I work with. Structure is so important, that’s something you can carry on in your life. If those kids can carry structure into their life, they can be well off.”
