Gordo Makes it Seven Straight Against Rival Pickens County
By WVUA 23 Sports Reporter Matthew Travis
The Gordo Greenwave entered their rivalry matchup against Pickens County with a six-game win streak over the Tornadoes, and Thursday night was no different as the Greenwave went on to win 40-8.
This one was all Gordo as they led 27-0 in the second quarter thanks to the play of quarterback Christopher Neal and receiver JT Billups.
Pickens County would score only once before the half as Neal fumbled it out of the end zone leading to a Tornado safety.
Pickens County scored once more as they got a touchdown in the second half, but couldn’t get enough stops to make a comeback.
With the win, Gordo improves to 9-1 on the season, while Pickens County falls to 7-3. Both teams have earned home games to begin the state playoffs. Gordo will host Brooks in the first round of the Class 4A Playoffs, while Pickens County will host Woodville in the first round of the Class 1A Playoffs.

Tuscaloosa County Upsets Northridge
By WVUA 23 Sports Reporter Dylan Morgan
It was Breast Cancer Awareness Night at Northridge as they hosted Tuscaloosa County in a county versus city rivalry game.
TCHS dominated in the first half behind Running Back Damien Taylor’s three first-half touchdowns putting them ahead 19-7 at halftime.
Northridge would get their second-half scoring going but would go for the two-point conversion at the end of the game and fail as TCHS would escape with a 27-26 victory over the Jaguars.
TCHS will finish its 2020 season at 3-7.
Northridge will be moving on to the Playoffs as they will take on Saraland on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.

The Northside Rams hosted their last game of the regular season against Sipsey Valley before the playoffs.
The Rams dominated in this one from the beginning behind No. 13 Braden Green’s hat trick of rushing touchdowns.
Along with an unrelenting defensive attack, the Rams were also able to add a pick-six on the night as Northside cruised to a 29-0 victory.
Unfortunately for Sipsey Valley, their season concluded with this performance as they finished the season 0-10.
Northside will be moving on to the Playoffs next week as they will take on the Deshler Tigers on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.

Shades Valley Mounties at Vestavia Hills Rebels
Vestavia gets the Win in Buddy Anderson’s Last Game
By WVUA 23 Sports Reporter Dylan Morgan
Vestavia Hills hosted Shades Valley in Buddy Anderson’s final game.
The Rebels would start fast and get out to a 24-7 lead at the half.
Vestavia would fully run away with this one behind a big performance from Braden Glenn who would add a rushing touchdown in the second half after throwing one in the first.
Shades Valley would try to fight back but the deficit was too much to handle as the Rebels won 52-27 to end the Rebel’s season and Buddy Anderson’s career with a W.
Anderson is the winning-est coach in Alabama high school football history, and finished his 43-year career at Vestavia Hills on Friday with 346 wins and two state championships.
Despite the loss, Shades Valley will move on to the playoffs and take on Cullman High School on Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.
