FOOTBALL FRIDAY: AMERICAN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, MONTEVALLO PREP FOR CONFERENCE GAME

Game Of The Week Preview Week 4 Montevallo At Aca

Last year American Christian Academy beat Montevallo 70-54, with the defense being at a significant advantage. The Patriots only allowed 94 points through 10 regular-season games.

Thus far in 2019, the Patriots are 3-0, including two shutouts.

Although the majority of points scored on ACA were in the second half, head coach Chris Smelley keeps emphasizing how good and disciplined his team is staying.

Smelley expressed how much pride and preparation the team shows week in and week out starting in practice.

Senior quarterback Lawson Pratt, committed to play at Samford, has completed 68 percent of his passes for 815 yards, 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Junior wide receiver Kamari Lassiter, who is being recruited by several Division I schools, including Alabama, has been Pratts go-to target, catching 12 passes for 257 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Scooter Graham is averaging more than nine yards per carry.

For the Rebels, it will be a test whether or not its offense can move the ball on the Patriots and if its defense can slow down the high powered offense under Smelley. In last years game, ACA scored 42 of its 70 points in the first half.

That is something the Rebels cannot let happen this time around. So far this season, its defense has allowed 153 points scored while the offense has scored 186 points.

ACA, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, is looking for a win to be a half-game up in region play, while Montevallo is looking to win its first road game.
