FBI MAY REVIEW TUSCALOOSA POLICE CUSTODY DEATH CASE

Tuscaloosa Police Department and and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office announced plans to pass Anthony Ware’s case to the Department of Justice. Ware died in police custody Friday, July 10th. According to police reports, Ware fled from police after authorities responded to 911 calls of a suspect walking around Crescent East Apartment with a gun. Shortly after officers located and pepper sprayed him, he collapsed on the scene. He was taken to a DCH Regional Medical Center will here he died. Here is a recent statement from TPD. And

“In our continuing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability regarding the passing of Mr. Anthony Ware, the Tuscaloosa Police Department (TPD) and it the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) contacted the FBI and requested the Department of Justice conduct an independent review of the case. Both TPD and TCSO, believe this request is the next logical step in this ongoing investigation. We also believe this will further demonstrate to the public our willingness to be open and honest regarding the case.
