Fans prepared for another historic Iron Bowl

Iron Bowl weekend brought out fans of both state teams, tailgaters, and SEC Nation to Tuscaloosa.

Alabama goes into the Iron Bowl with two regular season losses, and some started to question if the matchup was the same and just as important.

Former Alabama football player and Super Bowl champion Roman Harper said it’s not so much about playoffs but also for bragging rights and what it means for the rest of the year.

“I’m from the state of Alabama, so you throw the records out. And well, it may not be about playoffs positioning this year or maybe being the highest ranking teams or all those other things, but you still work with a whole bunch of Auburn fans and you still live right down the street from a whole bunch of Alabama and Auburn fans,” said Harper.

A few Alabama football fans also felt the Iron Bowl will always be important, regardless of standings.

“I think at the end of the day, it comes down to pride, cause it’s a huge rivalry. You know, families get separated and a lot of arguments go back and forth, so I’m going to root for the Crimson Tide,” said Alabama fan Trevor Dorand.
