Crimson Tide fans were ecstatic to be back on the quad Saturday afternoon to enjoy food, fun and Alabama football.

“Oh it’s exciting,” said Kent Howard. “We got here early, we set the music up, we set the TV up, we really enjoyed before the crowd gets here to kind of sit here and relax and to take in the crowd and take in the moment.”

While a lot of people still showed up to tailgate, the turnout was not as big as some had expected.

“The atmosphere is a little bit more quiet today because it is so hot,” said Lee Taylor. “I think a lot of people are worried about the heat, but those of us who are passionate about the game, are not going to miss the first game.”
