Falcon Day celebrates students ahead of school year

Westlawn Middle School hosted Tuscaloosa City Schools’ annual Falcon Day Saturday, offering teachers and principals a chance to talk with families ahead of the school year’s start on Wednesday.

In addition, students were able to pick up backpacks, school supplies and other items they need for school.

The event was part of the Western Cluster Initiative, which focuses on schools that feed into Central High School.

“I think with the state of our world, we have to let our community know that we are here for them,” said University Place Elementary School Principal Nakeyla Mullins. “We have the resources, we just have to know where the needs are and we can truly match those needs with resources so that we build stronger students.”

This is the second year for Falcon Fun Day.
