EZELL’S FISH CAMP AVOIDS FLOODING, BUT RESTAURANT IS INACCESSIBLE
The Tombigbee River’s flooding hit residents and businesses alike, and one popular Choctaw County business is feeling the pain from last month’s floods.
Ezell’s Fish Camp, located right on the river, is known for their famous catfish dinners. The restaurant has been closed thanks to floodwaters several times, but last month’s flooding is the most water they’ve been under since the late 1970s.
“This is more than normal,” said owner Mary Ann Hall. They closed the restaurant before flooding got too bad, but as of last week the only way to get in or out was via boat. No water has entered the restaurant, but that hasn’t stopped residents’ concerns.
“They’ve just been blowing (my phone) up, like ‘are y’all OK?’ ‘Is it inside?’ ‘What’s the damage?’ ‘What can we do?’ ” Hall said. “People are real supportive.”
