Easter Seals West Alabama is formally kicking off its Capital Campaign with a ball on Saturday — it’s 34th annual Champions Ball, to be exact.

Easter Seals is looking to raise $1.5 million so they can build a new facility. Thanks to a lease with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, private gifts and pledges, more than $8.7 million has already been raised.

Easter Seals West ALabama serves Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties, helping those with disabilities and special needs along with their families contribute their skills, talents and ideas to improve their lives and the community.

This year’s Champions Ball theme is “Rendezvous in Rio,” and proceeds benefit Easter Seals’ speech and language department.
