DRIVERS REJOICE: CONSTRUCTION OF 20/59 BRIDGE IN BIRMINGHAM IS OVER
The Interstate 20/59 bridge in Birmingham is now open for travelers.
Alabama Department of Transportation Region Engineer Dejavis Lenard said drivers should continue to be cautious in the area.
“Take your time, and learn the movements and make sure that you’re not distracted or impaired while you’re driving,” Lenard said.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey attended a ribbon cutting on Friday that symbolically opened the bridge.
The contractor had until Jan. 21 to finish this project, and the early completion means that the company will receive a $15 million bonus.
