With so much information about the coronavirus, it’s important to know the real facts.

Though COVID-19 can be deadly for some, most people infected with the virus do recover. The chief medical officer for the College of Community Health Sciences at the University of Alabama, Thomas Weida, said to keep a “facts over fear” mentality.

“Coronavirus is not a death sentence,” Weida said. “Most people have mild infection or may not even know they have the infection. Your body will develop antibodies to the virus and so it will begin to attack the virus and clear it. You have white blood cells to help chew up these particles and that’s essentially how your body fights any infection, but it takes time for your body to create those antibodies.”

Weida said that interval time is when the virus can spread and become much more problematic for certain people, but not everyone.
