DESTIN SWIMMER IDENTIFIED AS TUSCALOOSA MAN

A local man has drowned near Crab Island in Okaloosa County, Florida.

Michelle Nicholson of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office confirms the deceased is 24-year old James Duncan of Tuscaloosa.

Duncan went missing July 13th around 2:30pm after he reportedly went under the waters while swimming and didn’t resurface.
Reports indicate around three hours later his body was found near where he was last seen.
Duncan was a long time resident of west Alabama.
Here at home, he was the executive chef at 5 Bar Tuscaloosa.
We’re told he had temporarily moved to the Destin area to work at a sister restaurant for the summer.
Five General Manager A.j. Clements smiled and fought back tears as he remembered the man who he says could, “make any day better.”

Okaloosa County officials say another person with Duncan was able to be rescued.
Duncan’s brother tells me he was a 2010 graduate of Hale County High School
