DCH IN TUSCALOOSA IS EXPANDING, UPDATING EMERGENCY ROOM

Tuscaloosa’s DCH Regional Medical Center is giving its emergency room a nearly $1 million facelift.
The medical center’s board recently approved a project that will add two patient intake rooms, four treatment rooms and two consulting rooms, along with several improvements for patients and staff.
DCH Health System Corporate Director of Marketing/Communication Brad Fisher said the expansion will allow the hospital to better serve its patients during normal operations, but also in case of a crisis.
“Well, certainly if there was a mass casualty event, more rooms is always better,” he said. “So it would help if something horrible were to occur like a tornado, or, God forbid, like Orlando and Sandy Hook and so many other places.”
Construction begins immediately and will take about a year to complete, Fisher said.
