CRIME RATE DOWN IN DOTHAN

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) – A recent report shows crime in Dothan has dropped over the past two years.

The annual report from the Alabama Criminal Justice information Center shows that all major crime areas statistically dropped by 20 percent or more in Dothan, with the exception of homicides, which remained the same.

According to the report, the city of Dothan saw a 31 percent drop in reported rapes from 16 in 2013 to 11 in 2014. There was a 42 percent drop in reported robberies from 78 in 2013 to 45 in 2014.

Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish said he believed some of the reason for the continued decrease in the crime rate could be attributed to a good economy.
