Credit union in Alberta gets a splash of history on its facade
If you travel in the Alberta area often, you may have noticed a local credit union is sporting a fresh paint job on one of its walls.
Artist Banks Compton recently painted a historically focused mural for the Alabama One Credit Union branch on University Boulevard in Alberta.
The mural features several well-known landmarks that were at one time highlights of the Alberta area, including the Leland Center sign and a flyer from the West Alabama State Fair that was at one time held at Jaycee Park.
Compton said this project can be a major focal point for the area.
“I was really excited,” he said. “It was fun to see something like Alabama One transform their building into a really exciting destination on University Boulevard. It really catches your eye.”
Compton said he’s been painting murals for about a year, and his work can also be found in Linden and other parts of the state.
