Today’s a special day for the congregation of College Hill Baptist Church in Alberta.

It’s been nearly five years to the day since the April 27, 2011, tornado destroyed the church, and today the congregation hosted a groundbreaking for their new worship hall.

“It would give us a presence back home here in Alberta,” said College Hill’s Rev. Kevin Croom. “We’re excited about it. It’s about 3,600 square feet, but it will accommodate what our needs are.”

Since the tornado, the congregation was welcomed to University Church of Christ. They’ve since moved their worship service to the Belk Activity Center, where it will remain until they move into their new building.

The new church should be complete within nine months.
