COAST GUARD SEARCHING FOR MISSING SWIMMERS

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (AP) – The U.S. Coast Guard is helping to search for a father and son who went missing while swimming off Dauphin Island.

Local news outlets report that the pair disappeared Thursday afternoon. They were last seen swimming about 200 yards off shore of the barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. Family members lost sight of the two and they did not return to the beach.

The missing swimmers are a 40-year-old man and 17-year-old boy.

Multiple law enforcement and rescue agencies are participating in the search.
