A local spot offering a new pastime for anyone looking for a fun challenge is also making a difference for organizations in need.

Civil Axe Throwing Tuscaloosa on Fourth Street in Temerson Square is like a cross between bowling and a gun range, workers said.

The chain, originally from Birmingham, has been helping the Alzheimer’s Association and many other charities.

“There is a lot of stress in care giving so with November being Caregivers Month, helping people blow off steam relives stress and this is just a fun outlet to do that,” said Director of Development for the Alzheimer Association of Tuscaloosa Jessica Miller.

All proceeds went toward the Alzheimer’s Association for Alabama.

“This is a issue that is near to the Civil Axe family’s heart,” said Assistant Manager of Civil Axe Throwing Tuscaloosa Deandre Anderson. “There are a lot of people affected by this illness and we just want to be able to help as much s possible.”
