A couple of weeks ago the Northport City Council agreed to refinance a bond and save $2.3 million.

Northport City Engineer Tera Tubbs said city officials will use the money to  fund three different projects.

“One is Watermelon Road resurfacing project, we have Charley Shirley Road resurfacing project and we will also have a Main Avenue improvements project, which will be Fifth Street to U.S. Highway 43,” Tubbs said.

The areas will get sidewalk and drainage improvements, and some roads will be resurfaced. Tubbs said the city is trying to make big strides in caring for its infrastructure needs.

“We are trying to be very diplomatic with our dollars, looking for every grant dollar that we can find, federal dollars to help us with our infrastructure improvements,” Tubbs said.
