Holy Week is the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. And it is the most important week in the lives of many Christians.

Friday many churches around town held Good Friday services.

We spoke with David Gay Jr., the pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. He explained to us the meaning of Good Friday.

“This is the day that Jesus was crucified, and it is a special day for Christians all over the world. A special day in our hearts for this particular day,” said Gay.

And on this particular day many Christians will reflect and celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.  They will remember his actions, reflect on his messages, and recommit to living as his disciples.

“It leads up to the resurrection of Christ. If a man believe in his heart and confess with his mouth that Jesus did and rose again, we shall be saved,” said Gay.

Some Calvary Tuscaloosa members shared what this day means to them.

It is a somber day, but it is also a hopeful day. It provides hope for us that our sins will be forgiven. We are looking forward to Easter, celebrating all the good things with our family and our church family as well,” said Brenda Truelove.
