CHRIS OWENS NAMED TO SEC FOOTBALL COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM

Alabama redshirt junior offensive lineman Chris Owens was named to the 2019 Southeastern Conference Football Community Service Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Owens is among 14 student-athletes to be honored by the league for their service efforts.

Owens has volunteered in nearly 20 different initiatives, with an emphasis on impacting the local youth. He visits several local schools like Tuscaloosa Magnet Elementary to promote the importance of reading. He also helped rebuild Lee County in tornado relief.

The SEC names a community service team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports. The achievement highlights athletes who give back to their communities through superior service efforts.
