Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen was open for just three years before it suddenly shut down permanently Monday along with multiple locations across the Southeast.  The only notice employees were given?  A message on their scheduling software Monday morning saying the store’s 50 employees no longer have a job.

Cheddar’s Regional Vice President David Reckner said in a statement Monday that decreased business was the reason the location closed.

Former employees said it was bad business to give them zero notice.

“We give two weeks notice,” one employee said. “I wish that they would do that for us. That way we could go ahead and start looking for a job somewhere else, because for a lot of us, this is only job we have.”

That employee said the company suggested they were offering employees some form of compensation, but the amount is unknown.
