Mark Nelson’s empty District 5 seat on the Tuscaloosa County School Board is now filled.

The Board voted Monday night and elected longtime engineer Charles Orr to fill the position.

Or will run on the Republican ballot for District 5 in the November general election. He was one of four people interviewed by the board last week.

Nelson resigned March 1 to fill the District 3 seat on the Tuscaloosa County Commission. Nelson replaced longtime Commissioner Bobby Miller, who died Jan. 29.
