CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES BANK BUILDING PURCHASE, IMPENDING MOVE

Chamber Of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama is making a big move in its hopes to improve upon their economic and community development efforts.

After seeing how Commerce Lexington in Lexington, Kentucky, operates out of a building with its community partners, the Chamber’s board of directors on Nov. 21 voted to purchase the Regions Bank facility in downtown Tuscaloosa.

The location, at 2222 Ninth St., is being offered to the Chamber for under market value by Regions Bank, President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Page said in a statement.

Regions won’t be leaving the area, but the bank will develop a new branch building next to the old building and will maintain offices inside the new Chamber building for bankers who serve local businesses and others.

The Chamber is putting their current building, located at 2201 Jack Warner Parkway, up for sale.
