Tuesday was signing day at Central High School in Tuscaloosa, where five Central High athletes signed to compete at the collegiate level.

Of those signees there were two football players, Omar Mullins signed to play at Bethel University and Michael Richardson signed to play at Maryville College. Among the others to sign was Kanye Franklin who signed to run Men’s Track at West Alabama and Kaevia Davis signed to play Women’s Basketball at Wallace-Selma.

The fifth signee of Central’s senior class is a historic one as Chyna Foster became the school’s first women’s flag football signee, Foster signed to play Flag Football with Florida Memorial University.

“It shows young girls that new things are possible.” said Chyna Foster on what this could mean for young female athletes.

In May of 2020, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that it would be adding women’s flag football as a sanctioned varsity sport, and Florida Memorial University has been one of the initial teams for the new varsity sport.
