TUSCALOOSA — Central High School renamed their school gym on Saturday afternoon after basketball coaching legend, Roosevelt Sanders.

Friends, family and former players gathered outside the school to commemorate the event. The gym, formerly known as the “Falcon’s Nest” will hereby be referred to as “Roosevelt Sanders Gymnasium.”

Sanders coached at Central for 18 years and had an overall career record of 699 wins and 159 loses. His Falcons won the state championship in 1990 and 1991. Additionally, Sanders led Central to an 86-home game winning streak during the 1987-95 seasons.
