CELEBRATION ON THE RIVER RINGS IN EIGHTH YEAR OF FOURTH FESTIVITIES
On Thursday, the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is the place to be for all things Fourth of July.
The eighth annual Celebration on the River will kick off at 6 p.m. on July 4, 2019. With a full entertainment lineup and plenty of activities for the kids, the event is sure to please everyone in the family.
Here is the general schedule of how the evening will go:
- 5:45 p.m. Shuttles begin from Downtown Parking Deck & Tuscaloosa River Market
- 6 p.m. Amphitheater opens
- 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. PARA Kids Zone
- 6 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. DJ Chuckie
- 6:45 p.m. The Divebombers’ live performance
- 7:45 p.m. – 8:40 p.m. Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra concert
- 8:40 p.m. Mayor Walt Maddox’s address and military salute (new!)
- 9 p.m. Fireworks show
This year, a military salute is the newest addition to the COTR schedule. In June, Tuscaloosa community members were able to nominate a veteran or current active duty member of the military to be chosen for the salute. The five chosen honorees will be recognized on stage for their service and will be awarded a ticket package for the remaining shows in the Amphitheater’s Coca-Cola Concert Series.
The Celebration on the River is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the public. For alerts regarding weather conditions and other COTR-related information, text “TUSC4TH” to 888-777 to subscribe to updates.
Attendees can park in the Downtown Parking Deck or Tuscaloosa River Market, where shuttles will be available to travel to and from the Amphitheater. Also, don’t get caught with a bad bag: a clear bag policy will be in effect for the Celebration.
The City of Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority are hosting this year’s celebration. The event is sponsored by Parker Towing, Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Alabama Power, McAbee Construction and others.
